Before Idol was blessed with Matt’s talent, he had already written several original songs and released two albums independently on iTunes. One of his most popular and loved original songs is off of his 2nd album, Mind, Body and Soul called “Too Many Nights.”
I remember when I first heard this song, it was right after Matt was eliminated on Idol during the Group semi-finals. I was so upset that he hadn’t made it, but I remember listening to this song and feeling like I understood a part of Matt’s heart;
“Cause when he feels like he’s falling, he keeps his eye on his calling…”

Beautiful song! One of my favorite pre-idol songs. So inspirational and it’s one of those songs that could help anyone out, in any situation. I believe that is a sign of a great songwriter, in my eyes.
