Fan Friday – Janelle

Name: Janelle (BGjanelle)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Short bio: I’m a big American Idol fan and I’ve had many obsessions with contestants over the years, but this has by far been the biggest. Matt Giraud caught my attention immediately with his “I Don’t Wanna Be” audition; I just loved his voice and hoped he would go far based on his talent–”Georgia”, anyone?  Along the way I also fell in love with his fun personality and his overall awesomeness. As a fan, there were so many twists and turns on the emotional rollercoaster from week to week, especially with the Wild Card and Judges’ Save.  I had never invested so much time, energy, and money into any artist, but between being able to see Matt perform live in Philadelphia and Grand Rapids and meet him personally, it has provided memories for me that I’ll never forget.  Through Matt I have found my girls, the BG’s, and bonded with many other awesome fans on Twitter and the americanidol.com and mattgiraudfans.net forums.

On #SignMattGiraud: Matt G needs to be signed! What really drew me to Matt was his originality, that husky, soulful voice and his virtuosic piano skills, which I certainly would pay to listen to any day of the week, and I know I’m not alone!  It’s clear to me that Matt breathes music and has so much pouring out of him that he can’t wait to deliver.  It has been exciting to hear about his writing and recording sessions–I hope that Matt is making music that he is really proud of and that truly represents himself as the artist he wants to be.  No matter what though, I will be a Matt Giraud fan for life!!

Fan Friday – Christina Ellis

Name: Christina Ellis (FTL1Christina)
Location: Florence, KY
Short bio: A couple of friends and I started a fan group for Matt called “The Full Time Lovers” (FTLs). We have put a lot of hard work into promoting Matt and his music and helping to “recruit” new fans. Of course Matt has other fan groups, The Giraud Squad (which I am also a member of) and The Bad Girls; who are both AMAZING groups as well! This just goes to show how much the people really love him!
Matt doesn’t know this but he helped me through a tough time in my life. Last September, my house burned down. My family lost everything we owned and had to start over from scratch. It was the scariest, most stressful and emotional thing I’ve ever been through. In January, when this season of AI started, my family had just moved into a small 2 bedroom apartment from the hotel we had been living in since the fire. We weren’t able to move back into our house until this past June, after they finished rebuilding it. Basically, it took nearly a year before our lives started getting back to normal. To make a long story short, during the time I was going through all of this, I was able to spend a few hours each week just to forget what I was going through and watch Matt. Matt has inspired me in so many ways, he really has no idea.
On becoming a Matt fan: I was lucky enough to see Matt Giraud from the moment he auditoned. The whole journey was amazing. I never really got into American Idol in the past and never really voted for anyone. When I saw Matt’s audition, I was hooked. Living only about an hour north of Louisville, it still kind of excites me that that’s where he auditioned! :) I picked him from the start and voted my butt off until the day he was eliminated, which, by the way, broke my heart into pieces. Matt has a talent that blows my mind, a personality I don’t think anyone can top, and he has really brought a lot of people from all over the country (or world, for that matter) together.

On #SignMattGiraud: I feel blessed to have met Matt at the AI concert in Columbus and I am so excited to be going to his shows in Grand Rapids in November AND January. I would never travel that distance for any other artist. I wish Matt the best in everything he does, and I’m SO proud of him and what he has accomplished. It’s amazing to see what all he has done since that Lousiville audition. Matt Giraud is someone I will ALWAYS support in any way I can. I cannot wait to hear his music to come in the future… somebody #SignMattGiraud!

Fan Friday – Tiffany (@SignMattGiraud)

In today’s featured “Fan Friday,” we have a very special supporter of the SignMattGiraud movement. She created a twitter account dedicated completely to this mission – @SignMattGiraud. (Follow her!)

Name: Tiffany (SignMattGiraud)
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Bio: I’m a 27 year old attorney, working and living in LA with my husband, who hates that I’m infatuated with another man…Matt Giraud.

On becoming a Matt Giraud fan: I’ll admit I wasn’t infatuated during his first audition.  He was good, no doubt about it, but I was an Anoop fan to start with (still am).  My husband actually commented that Matt would go far, that he was really good and the judges and people would like him. Everyone my husband likes makes it to the top 5. Then came Hollywood Week, White Chocolate hit the stage and Matt sang Georgia… that was it.  I was hooked and I’ve been a Matt fan ever since.  Got his first two CDs and loved every note and lyric, the boy can write and sing. And he’s hot so that doesn’t hurt.

On #SignMattGiraud: I made the twitter account, @SignMattGiraud back in June to get the movement rolling… we were all thinking and wanting the same thing, to get Matt signed! Looking just at pure talent, there’s no question about Matt’s vocal abilities, writing skills and his ability to captivate while performing. We’ve all seen it during the show and on tour.  Then throw in his personality, charm and good looks and you’ve got yourself the best new artist. The records company have to recognize it eventually. He’s got the fans to support his career and he’s got the talent.

Fan Friday – Lorainne

Name: Lorainne (LoeezeeFTL132)
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Bio: I’m a 23 year old aspiring music/fashion journalist.  I am a huge music lover.  I could never make it through a day without listening to some of my favorite artists, which of course include Matt Giraud. :)

On becoming a Matt Giraud fan: I was a fan since his audition. Just been a fan since I saw him doing his thing in Louisville. I knew he was a force to be reckoned with. I saw Matt perform live on the American Idols Live Tour in Phoenix, AZ on 7/20/09 and it was AMAZING!! Below is a video I recorded of Matt performing, “You Found Me:”

On #SignMattGiraud: Ok, so let me break it down for you. Matt Giraud NEEDS/SHOULD already be signed. There hasn’t been an artist that I can recall in at least 5 years that I’ve grown to love like Matt Giraud.  Just as I started worrying about the future of music with all this junk out on the radio, Matt came along.  He is not only extremely handsome, charming and funny but he’s got a voice unlike any other.  He has the perfect blend of Soul, Rock and R&B.  He is appealing to a mixture of genres.  There is no sense in denying this guy a deal.  All of us true fans know it will happen in no time.   So watch out world, Matt Giraud is coming to an iPod, radio, and CD near you!

Fan Friday – Sarah and Julia

Names: Sarah and Julia
Location: South of Buffalo, New York
Short Bio: Sara (left) is 16, Julia (right) is 15. We both live in New York, south of Buffalo. We went to two American Idols Live tour shows this year, (Rochester and Cleveland) and we also went to the aftershow meet and greet in Syracuse.

On becoming a Matt Giraud fan: Our story begins in Cleveland. We got to the barricades super early before the show, around 11:30. Matt was the first to come out, but he got to us last, as he started on the other side. Being Adam fans originally, we were all decked out in glitter and t-shirts. He took one look at us and laughed, saying “Ah, Adam fans. Well, I’ll convert you tonight!” He was extremely nice and took a picture with each of us. But when Julia went to take Sara’s picture, the camera turned off. Julia claimed it wasn’t her that did it, Sara was worried that he wouldn’t have enough time, but he stayed and even made a joke about it, “Ah, the old camera turned off by itself trick. Works every time!” Julia’s mom commented that he kind of looked like our big brother, which we thought was cool.

During the show we really were ‘converted’ and we screamed during his set that we loved him! After the show he came out and saw us, saying “Ah, it’s you guys!” We told him he had converted us and he said, “I did?! High five!” So we each high fived him. We asked him if he had heard us yell that we loved him, and he said ” That was you?! Ah, you guys are the best.” Then he came back around, and we reached out to give him a hug. He seemed flattered and said (in a cute voice) “Aw, I get a hug? Cause I converted youu!” We asked if he would remember us, and he said yes, and told us to ‘just wear those shirts.’ We were super excited that we had not only met him, but actually had a conversation with him.

When we went to Syracuse, we hoped he would remember us, and he did! We reminded him that he had converted us, and we were wearing the shirts, and he recognized us! He signed Sara’s picture of them, and when she said she loved him, he replied “Thanks baby.” Julia asked him to give us a shout out (she was filming) and he said “Thanks for being converted, I’ll love you forever.”  The video can be seen here:

On #SignMattGiraud: Matt Giraud is a wonderful, kind, hilarious person who deserves to be signed. Not only is he an outstanding singer with a great voice, he truly enjoys meeting and interacting with his fans, and was by far the nicest idol that we met. He has the ability to convert people into fans of his with his awesome talent. He blew people all over the country away with his stunning vocals, and he plays the piano like it’s his job. I could think of a million reasons why he SHOULD be signed, and absolutely none for why he shouldn’t. So get on it, Music Industry! Do your job!

Fan Friday: Cecilie

Name: Cecilie (aka Cecilie_denmark)
Location: Europe, Denmark
Bio: I am married and have 4 kids – 18, 15, 10 and 8yrs old. Maybe not your typical Matt Giraud fangirl, but then again that is the beauty about Matt – you don’t have to be a specific age to appreciate his amazing talent, his passion, wonderful personality and undeniable charm and good looks.

I went to grad school at Copenhagen Business School and hold a diploma in Organization and Management. I work full-time as a senior e-learning consultant with implementing e-learning at the University of Copenhagen. I enjoy horseback-riding on a weekly basis and run every other day. I am a part of the twitter group ”Going The Distance for Matt Giraud” our goal is to run till Matt gets signed – but most likely all of us will continue afterwards since his record-deal can’t be many miles away!

On becoming a Matt Giraud fan: I so vividly remember the first time I noticed Matt Giraud on American Idol. He was auditioning and had the sweetest most likable, innocent aura about him. I liked him instantly and when he started to sing I was definitely paying attention. During Hollywood week I was head over heels so to speak – so you can say that he had me at “hello”.

On #SignMattGiraud: I know that Matt Giraud will get signed. I just know. Not only because he has an amazing talent, mad piano-skills and a voice to die for; but because I truly believe, that the world needs Matt and his music. I had the honor and immense pleasure of going to the AI concert in Grand Rapids, MI. I got to talk to Matt, to witness the way he is around his fans and to see him perform and – just saying – the label that signs him will strike gold! I choose to believe that the only reason that Matt is not signed yet is that he is waiting for that right deal that permits him total musical freedom.

I can’t wait for the day that Matt releases his first album and  first single! Can’t wait for Matt on the radio, can’t wait for Matt at the VMA’s, can’t wait for more Matt.
Spread the word #SignMattGiraud!
