Music Monday – “You Found Me”
Have you ever turned on the radio and heard the 3 piano-note intro of the hit song, “You Found Me?” and found yourself getting excited for a brief moment expecting to hear the soulful voice of Matt Giraud singing “I found God…” and then felt a twinge of disappointment when you realized it was the (still very awesome) original by The Fray? If so, you might not be alone. Many people are now raving about Matt’s version of “You Found Me” and even suggesting it is better than the original.
Below you will have a chance to state your opinion on this song. Listen below to both versions of this song and vote on which you prefer best. Nevermind that this site is called #SignMattGiraud and that the primary readers are hard-core Matt fans. We’re still going to conduct a poll anyway…after all, statistics are statistics right?
Music Monday – “Too Many Nights”
Before Idol was blessed with Matt’s talent, he had already written several original songs and released two albums independently on iTunes. One of his most popular and loved original songs is off of his 2nd album, Mind, Body and Soul called “Too Many Nights.”
I remember when I first heard this song, it was right after Matt was eliminated on Idol during the Group semi-finals. I was so upset that he hadn’t made it, but I remember listening to this song and feeling like I understood a part of Matt’s heart;
“Cause when he feels like he’s falling, he keeps his eye on his calling…”
And of course, Matt was brought back in the Wildcard round and went on to finish as 4th runner-up. Give this song a listen, as today’s “Music Monday” special and share what it means to you.
Before Matt “hit it big” with American Idol, he was playing in a piano bar for…whoever would listen. Taking requests, playing for bachelorette parties, etc. Today on “Music Monday,” we will go back in time a little and post songs from the piano bar days.
What Goes Around – Justin Timberlake
Let’s Get It On – Matt Giraud singing to Annie
Ignition (Remix) – R. Kelly
The Luckiest – Ben Folds Five
After Matt was eliminated from American Idol, he went on a non-stop run of interviews & TV appearances. It was in those few days after elimination, when the pressure of judging was finally released, that Matt was able to showcase himself as the true performer he really was. Many viewers realized during this time just how talented Matt Giraud was and quickly became fans!
Featured today on “Music Monday” is Matt’s post-Idol performance on the popular talk show w/ Ellen Degeneres…”Let’s Get It On.”
No matter if you’ve seen this video once, 10 times or 100 times…you can’t help but have the same reaction everytime – someone needs to #SignMattGiraud!!
